Buddy Holly(September 7, 1936 - February 3, 1959) was a Texan singer-songwriterand is considered one of the founding fathers of rock 'n' roll, as well as one of its most influential artists. Although his career was cut short, his body of work is considered some of the best in rock music history and his music would influence not only many of his recording contemporaries, but also the future direction music would take. Sixties rock bands such as The Beatlesand The Rolling Stoneshave cited him as one of their favorite musicians. Holly's music was sophisticated for its day, including the use of instruments considered novel for rock and roll, such as the celesta (heard on Everyday). Holly was an influential lead and rhythm guitarist, notably on songs such as Peggy Sueand Not Fade Away.

I want you to me take me where I belong
where hearts have been broken - with a kiss and a song
spend the rest of my days dear - without any cares
everyone understands me - in the valley of tears
Soft words have been spoken - so sweet and low
but my mind is made up and I must go
spend the rest of my days dear - without any cares
everyone understands me - in the valley of tears
